Police are tracking down eight men believed to be involved in an attack on a scrap metal trader whose toes were almost severed in Kampung Manis, Perai near here yesterday evening.
State CID deputy chief ACP Mohd Nasir Salleh said in the 6.10pm incident, the victim, S. Munian, 27, was at a foodstall belonging to his mother's friend before eight suspects in their 20's came on motorcycles and suddenly attacked him.
"Four of them armed with machetes chased the victim. In his haste to flee, the victim fell and was viciously assaulted by suspects causing him to sustain a broken shoulder and broken right arm with wounds on the body and head," he told reporters here today.
He said however, the mother and friend were not hurt by the suspects who wore full-face helmets.
The victim was rushed to the Seberang Jaya Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
He said police had yet to take statements from the victim following the attack which was believed to prompted by revenge.
