"Sekarang banyak kebakaran melibatkan kenderaa.

Alvin, Vivian bebas tuduhan hina Islam

  • Alvin, Vivian

berkaitan alasan perlembagaan dalam Seksyen 298A (1) (a).

Mereka menghadapi tuduhan mengikut Akta Hasutan kerana menyiarkan gambar dengan kapsyen 'Selamat Berbuka Puasa (with Bak Kut Teh...fragrant, delicious and appetising)' dalam laman facebook.

RX100 Mark 3: Premium compact, hidden Electronic Viewfinder (EVF)

Sony's premium compact comes with a number of useful tweaks while retaining its small size.

Sony knows it has a good thing on its hands with the RX100 premium compact range — the company has updated it pretty regularly since the first one was introduced.

Now called the RX100 Mark 3, the latest incarnation of this model has had a much bigger update than the previous versions.

Hands on: Sony RX100 Mark 3 keeps the compact size of its predecessors while tweaking an already successful design for the better
Sony RX100 Mark 3 keeps the compact size of its predecessors while tweaking an already successful design for the better.

In fact, it has been upgraded where it matters most. For one thing, the 24-70mm equivalent lens now has a much brighter f/1.8-2.8 maximum aperture. For another, it now comes integrated with a very nifty little pop-up electronic viewfinder (EVF).

In the previous model, the EVF was an optional (and very expensive) extra and having it completely integrated into the camera without sacrificing compactness is a welcome move.
So what’s performance like on this tiny premium compact? Not too shabby, as I found out.

Tiny shooter

The Mark 3 is a small camera — it’s actually no bigger than a compact camera and looks like it too, with all the controls familiar to users of compacts.
However, build quality is certainly a cut above most cameras, which hints at the equally premium price you pay for this level of fit and finish.

EVF up: the Sony RX100 Mark 3 electronic viewfinder is well-integrated into the body of the camera
EVF UP: The Sony RX100 Mark 3 electronic viewfinder is well-integrated into the body of the camera.

The drawback, of course, is that the camera uses a 1in sensor (same as its predecessor). The sensor is bigger and better than most compact cameras with smaller sensors, but it’s certainly not as large as a full-frame sensor or Micro Four Thirds.

As mentioned before, Sony has opted to include a 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 lens instead of the 28-100mm f/1.8-4.9 equivalent lens of the RX100 Mark 2. You lose some zoom range, but you gain nearly two stops at the telephoto end compared with the Mark 2.

That is a reasonable trade-off in my opinion, as the wider apertures let in more light, which consequently allows lower ISO settings in low-light situations.

The star of the show, of course, has to be the nifty little pop-up EVF. When not in use, it sits completely flush with the body of the camera, and pops up when you push a little slider switch on the side.

Once it pops up, however, you still need to pull the EVF’s eyepiece out before you can look through it, and push it back in before you put it back in its silo.
The EVF is very nice — it’s a 1.44mil-dot affair and while the magnification is not great, it really is very useful when you shoot outdoors under very bright sunlight.

Brighter lens: the Sony RX100 Mark 3 has a 24-70mm equivalent lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.8 at the wide end and f/2.8 at the telephoto end
BRIGHTER LENS: The Sony RX100 Mark 3 has a 24-70mm equivalent lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.8 at the wide end and f/2.8 at the telephoto end.

The built-in LCD screen is tiltable and selfie shooters can rejoice — Sony allows you to flip the screen all the way up till it faces forwards for easy shots.

The LCD is still not touch-sensitive, a feature that would have made not only selfies easier but menu navigation as well.

Last but not least, there’s a multifunction rotating ring around the lens that allows you to change aperture in aperture priority mode, or change shutter speeds in shutter priority mode, and so on. Suffice to say if you’re used to compact camera controls, the Mark 3 will be immediately familiar to you.

Remote functionality

In keeping with the current trend for most new cameras coming out these days, the Mark 3 comes with WiFi and NFC (near-field communication) for easy pairing with smartphones that do have NFC built-in.

Sony has the rather cumbersomely-named Play Memories app available for both iOS and Android devices which can be used to transfer images to the smartphone and remotely control the camera.

As a remote control, the Play Memories app is rather basic and gives you live view and remote shooting, but you have no control of ISO, aperture or shutter settings.
Other than being very basic, however, the app worked as expected.

Image quality

In bright light at low ISO settings, the Mark 3 was a great performer — it consistently produced well-exposed shots with lots of detail and autofocus was pretty fast in most situations except in very dim light.

As far as ISO performance goes, the Mark 3 produces very low noise from the base ISO all the way up to ISO 800.

At ISO 1600, image quality is still very good and the camera does a good job of applying noise reduction while still holding onto detail.

Standard controls: the Sony RX100 Mark 3 has all the standard compact camera button controls, although most of these buttons can be mapped to other functions
STANDARD CONTROLS: The Sony RX100 Mark 3 has all the standard compact camera button controls, although most of these buttons can be mapped to other functions.

From ISO 3200 and up, however, noise reduction kicks in really aggressively and while it remains controlled at these higher ISO settings, you see a significant loss of detail in images.

One feature worth mentioning is that the Mark 3 has a new XAVC S codec for video recording in addition to the usual MPEG4 and AVCHD options.

XAVC S also records at 1080p resolution but at a much higher 50Mbps (megabits per second) bitrate which should produce cleaner, higher-quality videos.

The only caveat here is that you must have a fast SDXC card installed in the camera — the Mark 3 detects the type of card you have installed and if it’s SDHC or lower you will not be allowed to record using the XAVC S codec.

Conclusion

The RX100 Mark 3 is certainly one of the best compacts on the market right now — image quality is very good and the pop-up EVF is actually a cool feature that is actually quite useful.

The EVF will also turn heads when you pop it up. I’ve had many friends comment on it the moment I slid the switch and it popped up.

My only concern is the price — at RM2,999, it’s really a lot of money to pay, especially when you consider that you can get a mid-range DSLR (or a mirrorless camera) for the same price.

So the question you need to ask yourself is, would you pay for true pocketability over the versatility of a DSLR or mirrorless camera system? That is something only you can decide.

Pros: Great image quality; very pocketable; pop-up EVF is impressive.

Cons: Pricey.

Pemintaran permainan semakin giat nampaknya.

Xiaomi outsold Samsung in China last year

We've been charting Xiaomi's steady risein China over the past few years, but the latest stats from IDC make it clear just how far the tiny phone company has come (as well as how far Samsung has fallen).

Xiaomi ended up leading China's smartphone market last year with a 12.5 percent share of shipments, while Samsung came in second place with a 12.1 percent share. Sure, those numbers may make it seem like Xiaomi and Samsung are basically on the same level, but what's really important is how they've changed from 2013.

Xiaomi's market share actually rose 186 percent last year, while Samsung's fell around 22 percent (and it was the only smartphone company among China's top five to fall). The Korean electronics giant was already facing slumping sales early last year, when we argued that China would likely be its next big opportunity for a comeback

But, from the looks of it, Xiaomi basically ended up eating Samsung's lunch.IDC notes that Xiaomi's reliance on flash sales (which creates tons of marketing hype without much effort), low prices, and powerful hardware all helped it land the top smartphone vendor spot. But Xiaomi wasn't the only big winner last year: Apple also ended up coming in second place during the last quarter in 2014 thanks to the double-whammy of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

While Apple didn't make enough shipments to land a spot among the top five smartphone companies in China last year, there's a good chance it'll get there this year if it keeps shipments up. The big takeaway? 2015 is probably going to be a rough year for Samsung.

Tidak perlu buka siasatan baru kes Altantuya susulan kenyataan Sirul - KPN

Jelas Khalid, tertuduh, Sirul mempunyai peluang berbuat demikian di tiga peringkat di Mahkamah.

KUALA LUMPUR: Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar berkata tiada sebab bagi Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) membuka semula kertas siasatan kes pembunuhan melibatkan warga Mongolia, Altantuya Shaaribuu.

“Kenapa sekarang baru dia hendak dedahkan semuanya?

Apple patent lets iPhone be part of VR reality display

A smartphone would essentially become a screen set directly before the wearer's eyes, with the option of picture-in-picture if a person wants to watch what is happening around him or her.

SAN FRANCISCO: Apple on Tuesday was awarded a patent on a headset that could let iPhones be part of augmented or virtual reality displays.

The patent titled "Head Mounted Display Apparatus For Retaining A Portable Electronic Device With Display" depicts a large eyeglass-style frame into which a smartphone could be seated.

A smartphone would essentially become a screen set directly before the wearer's eyes, with the option of picture-in-picture if a person wants to watch what is happening around him or her.

Coupling the headset device with an iPhone "temporarily integrates the separate devices into a single unit," according to the patent, which Apple filed for in late 2008.

Capabilities of each device would be extended to the other, the patent specified, leaving open the potential to incorporate Siri virtual assistant voice commands.

The gadget described in the patent is similar to Gear VR head gear released last year by Samsung and paired with the South Korean consumer electronics titan's large-screen Galaxy Note 4 smartphones.

At its developers conference in San Francisco last year, Google gave away simple kits to make cardboard virtual reality headsets that act as frames for Android powered smartphones.

Police arrest 14-year-old girl on way to join IS

KHALID: The teenager was influenced by propaganda on Facebook

KUALA LUMPUR: The police arrested a 14-year-old female student yesterday as she was about to fly off to join the Islamic State (IS) militant group in Syria, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said today.

The girl was held at the KL International Airport (KLIA). She had made preparations to travel to Syria via Egypt, he said.

The police believed she had a friend or contact in Egypt, said Khalid.

"The girl was influenced by propaganda on Facebook.

"The police are conducting an investigation to trace the mastermind in the case and to ascertain how the student secured the flight ticket and expenses to travel there (Syria)," he told newsmen at the 'Balik Kampung' drive home safely campaign at the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza here.

The campaign is held in conjunction with the Chinese New Year.

As for the girl, she is being remanded under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.

Khalid advised parents to constantly monitor the activities of their childrento prevent them from being influenced by external forces that could destroy their future.

Chinese Muslims hold strong to CNY traditions

The mee suah, also known as "longevity noodles", said Adam (photo) is normally eaten on the morning of the Chinese New Year or during birthday celebrations. - Adam Corrie Abdullah FB Photo

KUALA LUMPUR: The days preceding Chinese New Year always finds Lim Ah Hong busy in the kitchen at her home in Taman Rakyat, Taiping, Perak.

She can count on the help from her children and daughters-in-law, but only the 70-year-old knows how to prepare mee suah, a traditional Tionghua dish.

The salted Chinese noodles made from wheat flour are her specialty. It was a treat that her children have enjoyed since young, and they have always regarded the mee suah made by their mother the best and tastiest.

However, these days, Lim uses a special set of utensils and wok to prepare the noodle that is usually served with boiled eggs and chicken soup.

The meats served with the dish are also bought from Muslim suppliers at the wet market.

This extra effort from the loving mother is in respect to the dietary restrictions of her fifth child, who embraced Islam seven years ago.

"I have never doubted the food prepared by mother as she thoroughly understands the issue of halal and haram and the Muslim lifestyle. Furthermore, we have been neighbours with Malay families for over 34 years," said Lee Choon Kooi, popularly known as Adam Corrie Lee Abdullah.

The mee suah, also known as "longevity noodles", is normally eaten on the morning of the Chinese New Year or during birthday celebrations.

It was the favourite dish of the 47-year-old actor, choreographer and professional stuntman.

Lim, who has 10 children, is well-acquainted with each of her children’s taste buds and tries to cater for all of them during the auspicious celebration.

She believes the benefit in keeping her family close together despite their differences.

As the Chinese proverb goes, harmony makes both family and nation prosperous (jiā hé rìzi wàng; guó hé wàn shì xīng)

Not a hindrance

Her beliefs and values had made it easier for Adam to inform his mother of his decision to become Muslim in 2007.

"Embracing Islam does not stop me from celebrating the Chinese New Year with my family. Blood is thicker than water.

Though we subscribe to different faiths, our family ties remain strong.

"I make it a point to go back to my hometown for the Chinese New Year celebrations every year," he said.

His wife Fazima Fuad, 37, whom he married in 2008, also enjoys a close relationship with his family.

In fact, his family looks forward to the couple's arrival for the reunion dinner on the eve of every Chinese New Year.

"What is important is the respect we have for each other. Isn't it wonderful how we can still get together although we are of different faiths?

"As a son, I often remind myself to not leave my mother by herself," said Adam, who has been featured in many local films such as KL Gangster 2 and Gerak Khas.

The trip back to his hometown was also a time for the family to get together for some spring-cleaning.

This year's celebration, however, is expected to be a simple affair as many of Adam's siblings are celebrating with their in-laws.

Still Chinese

Adam's family may be cognisant of what the Islamic lifestyle entails, but there are still those with the misconception that new Chinese Muslims can no longer practice Chinese culture and customs.

This was not true, said Sharin Low Abdullah, 68, who owns a chain of Chinese Muslim restaurants.

Islam has always celebrated the differences between the races and encouraged new Muslims to retain their racial identity, as long as its rituals did not clash with Islamic principles and values, he said.

The grandfather of eight, who embraced Islam 47 years ago, still practices Chinese rituals in his daily life.

His chain of 26 restaurants nationwide is recognisable from the red Chinese lanterns hung at the entrance.

Red is the favoured colour among the Chinese as it signifies happiness, prosperity and success.

"We maintain the Chinese elements as it is the identity of the restaurant. Only those who approach my restaurants would be able to identify it as a Muslim restaurant due to the presence of Islamic calligraphy and Quranic verses at the
entrance," he said.

A "father" to many

Sharin, who embraced Islam when he was 21, understands the challenges faced by new Muslims and is actively providing assistance for new Chinese Muslims through the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association (MACMA).

He provides temporary housing and jobs to those who received opposition from their families or who have been thrown out of their homes for accepting Islam.

"They have nowhere else to go. Together with Macma Selangor, I, as a "father" to over 200 Chinese Muslims, try my best to help them. Many of them have even been disowned by their families,” said Sharin, who is also the chairman of Macma Selangor.

In light of the situation, Macma Selangor is hosting a grand Chinese New Year dinner for them, whom Sharin said was like his own family.

The dinner, to be held at his restaurant in Ampang, is an annual event that is entering its seventh year.

The event is also open to other new Muslims who would like to celebrate Chinese New Year with a halal Chinese meal.

ŠKODA Superb - a new era

The new ŠKODA Superb rolled into the spotlight for the first time last night and has revolutionised the design of the brand.

Generous dimensions, innovative assistance systems for safety, the environment and comfort, powerful EU6 engines and ŠKODA- typical ‘Simply Clever’ features have moved the brand’s flagship to the upper end of the automotive mid-class segment.

“This car marks the beginning of a new era for ŠKODA. In recent years, we have renewed and expanded our model range. The new ŠKODA Superb demonstrates our aspirations in the automotive mid-class segment. In terms of creativity and technology, it reaches a new level of performance, shows ŠKODA’s reclaimed position and leads the way into the future of the brand. This fantastic car will attract new private and business customers to ŠKODA,” said ŠKODA chief executive officer Prof Dr Winfried Vahland.

The world premiere of the new ŠKODA Superb took place in Forum Karlín in Prague, in front of 800 senior guests – ŠKODA welcomed international media representatives as well as guests from the group, the company, politics, business and society.

To date, the car manufacturer has delivered more than 700,000 first- and second-generation Superbs to customers.Elegance, strength, dynamism – revolutionary ŠKODA design, the new ŠKODA Superb demonstrates the brand’s emotional strength, bringing the exciting design language of the ‘ŠKODA VisionC’ show car into production.

“The wheelbase has been increased by 80 mm and at the same time the front vehicle overhang is 61 mm shorter than before. This new architecture provides the car with dynamic elegance,” said ŠKODA’s Design head Jozef Kabaň. At the same time, the new Superb offers further improved functionality and even more space.

The front conveys power and self-assurance. The striking grille, distinctive headlights and the deeply-drawn front-end architecture – all of this has been designed for increased optical width. The bonnet has powerfully shaped contours.

The side view appears dynamic and elegant. The razor-sharp tornado line stretches the vehicle and, together with additional lighter surfaces, creates effective contrasts between light and shade. The car’s narrow pillars, the precision-cut window outline and the gently sloping roofline give the vehicle a coupé-style look. The large wheels and the striking wheel arches emphasise the exclusive appearance.

The design of the rear is self-confident and powerful. Horizontal lines are also accentuated here. The two-part, broad and narrow taillights shine with LED technology as standard and sharply intensify the ŠKODA-typical ‘C’ shape of the lights. At the same time, crystalline elements provide the taillights with additional luminosity.

The completely redesigned interior continues the essential design details of the exterior. This includes the emphasis on horizontal lines, which gives the already spacious interior an even more generous feel. Clear shapes, precise workmanship and the use of high-quality materials result in a premium appearance.

The space of the new Superb has once again increased in comparison to the already generous values of the previous model. The driver and front seat passenger enjoy 39 mm more elbow room and more headroom.

With 157mm legroom the rear space is almost ‘stately’. This is about twice as much as in the nearest competitor model. The headroom measures 980 mm; no other model in the segment can offer this. The rear elbow room has increased by 69mm. The 625-litre boot capacity is the top value in its segment, 30 litres more than in the second-generation Superb.

The new ŠKODA Superb is the brand’s first model offering adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) including Driving Mode Select. New air-conditioning systems, including for the first time the new three-zone air conditioning, provide optimum temperature control and top air quality.

The sliding and tilting panoramic electric roof is optional in the new ŠKODA Superb. Auxiliary heating, heated seats, wireless heated windscreen and heated washer jets are available for the colder months. The rain/light sensor switches the windscreen wipers on and off automatically and automatically switches between daytime running lights and dipped beam as required.

Instead of one umbrella in the rear left door there is now one umbrella in each of the front doors. The new, electric tailgate is particularly convenient and can be complemented with an optional virtual pedal.

The electric tailgate and virtual pedal work in combination with the KESSY automatic locking and starting system. The new Superb comes with the latest generation of Park Assist for automatically driving in and out of parking spaces. In addition, the car features a rear-view camera for the first time. The traditional handbrake is replaced by an electric parking brake as standard.

Connectivity features make their entrance in the third-generation ŠKODA Superb. There is a total of four, completely new infotainment systems based on Volkswagen Group’s MIB technology (Modularer Infotainment-Baukasten). The Columbus top model is available on request with an integrated high-speed internet connection based on the LTE standard. This is a first for ŠKODA.

The ŠKODA Superb can be connected to a smartphone for the first time and selected apps can be operated from the infotainment system’s screen. SmartLink includes MirrorLinkTM, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The SmartGate interface, developed by ŠKODA, allows certain vehicle data to be accessed and on the user’s smartphone apps. The new ŠKODA Media Command app and the Wi-Fi hotspot integrated into the Columbus system allows the infotainment system to be controlled remotely from the rear seats for the first time. The Canton Sound System with twelve speakers and 610 W output turn the new ŠKODA Superb into a concert hall on wheels.

The new ŠKODA Superb is the cleverest ŠKODA ever. 29 ‘Simply Clever’ features make life easier for driver and passengers. 23 solutions are new in the Superb, ten of these are completely new for the brand.

The new ‘Simply Clever’ solutions include practical items such as a mechanically retractable towing device, a tablet holder in the rear, a tablet storage compartment in the front Jumbo Box, a USB port and 230 V socket in the rear, single-handed opening for 0.5-litre bottles and an extra high-visibility vest storage compartment in all four doors.

Both front and both rear doors will each hold a 1.5-litre bottle. The interior’s versatility is increased by the option to fold down the back seats from the boot. The passenger seat can also be folded down. New cargo fasteners secure loose objects in the boot. An ice scraper in the fuel filler flap is standard in the Superb. In addition, there are new storage nets on the inside edges of the front seats, a removable LED torch in the boot and misfuel protection.

The new ŠKODA Superb’s new engines offer up to 30 per cent lower fuel consumption values and emissions. The ŠKODA Superb GreenLine consumes just 3.7 l/100 km and emits 95 g CO2 per km. The vehicle is up to 75 kg lighter and the aerodynamics have been improved. The combination of up to 20 per cent more power, reduced air resistance and a reduction in weight also result in remarkable driving dynamics.

The new ŠKODA Superb comes with direct-injection turbocharged engines based on MQB technology (five TSI petrol, three TDI common-rail diesel). All powertrains comply with EU6 standards and have Stop-Start technology and brake energy recovery as standard. The petrol engines have a power output of between 125hp and 280hp, the diesel engines between 120hp and 190hp.

Except for the entry-level petrol version, all engines are available with modern dual-clutch transmission. Four engines are available with all-wheel drive based on the Haldex 5 clutch.

The additional standard equipment for EU countries includes: Front Assist with Emergency Brake, electronic Tyre Pressure Monitor, seven airbags, and five three-point automatic seat belts with fastening alerts as well as safety headrests. Rear side airbags are optional. Also standard: XDS+, a function of the electronic differential lock. From the Ambition trim line upwards, the Speedlimiter is fitted as standard.

With the enhanced Crew Protect Assist, driver and front passenger are ‘prepared’ for an impending collision. Lane Assist helps the vehicle stay in lane. Traffic Jam Assist, available for the first time for the model and for the brand, increases safety and comfort in traffic and during stop-start driving. The new Emergency Assist activates the brakes, should the driver become incapable of driving, automatically bringing the vehicle to a standstill.

The completely new Blind Spot Detect system supports the driver in changing lanes safely by alerting them to vehicles in their blind spot. A core component of Blind Spot Detect is the Rear Traffic Alert function which is available for the brand and model for the first time. Driver Alert guards against driver fatigue. Travel Assist with Traffic Sign Recognition, available for the first time in the ŠKODA Superb, constantly informs the driver about the current traffic situation.

The headlights are fitted with halogen technology or with bi-xenon lights including AFS function and LED daytime running lights. The high beam can be electronically controlled via Light Assist or via the extended Smart Light Assist function (masked high beam). Striking rear LED lights are standard in the new Superb, and there are also two reflectors on both sides of the rear bumper.
