Wayne Rooney has been sensationally videoed being knocked out by former team-mate Phil Bardsley in his own kitchen.
The Sun on Sunday has obtained the extraordinary video, which was reportedly filmed in Rooney’s own house during a “wild lads’ night in” on February 22, the day following United’s defeat to Swansea City.
Rooney and Bardsley, who plays for Stoke City, are seen on film donning boxing gloves and wearing jeans and socks on the slippy floor.
What seems to start out as a friendly spar soon gets more intense, before Bardsley catches the current Manchester United and England captain with a firm blow which sends Rooney collapsing to the floor. Rooney appears to lose consciousness as he falls, banging his head on the tiled kitchen floor.
A source told the Sun on Sunday: “Wayne had everybody worried when he hit the floor like that. He made such a thud when he went down and he was just on his back with his eyes closed, not moving.
“People were scared he had really banged his head and done some lasting damage. Everyone realised it was a stupid thing to do, but they just got carried away.”

The paper makes the rather hyperbolic claim that the incident “could have ended Rooney’s career”, but is no doubt fully correct to suggest that it will “infuriate United’s strict Dutch boss Louis van Gaal and England manager Roy Hodgson — as well as Rooney’s wife Coleen who was on holiday when it happened.”
Rooney is known to be a huge boxing fan, but in an age where some footballers are prevented from skiing due to fears over injury, the sight of Rooney lying unconscious on his kitchen floor is sure to anger his employers.
The source added: “They went from tapping each other to putting a bit more power into the punches, then Wayne walked on to one of Phil’s shots.
“It caught him flush and he went down. Phil was horrified and everyone held their breath. It put an end to the boxing.”
