KANGAR, June 5 (Bernama) -- Can you burn over RM70,000 in 10 years? Yes, you can.
That's how much a smoker spends daily, based on a pack of cigarettes costing RM20, notes Tuanku Fauziah Hospital director Datuk Dr Ahmad Nordin Mohd Jais.
"Smokers are also at greater risk of developing various diseases and they have to bear bigger healthcare costs which can reach up to RM1 million," he said when closing the 'No Tobacco Week' programme at the hospital here today.
Ahmad Nordin said the hospital's Stop Smoking Clinic, which was opened five years ago, had received positive response from smokers trying to kick the habit.
