KUALA LUMPUR: The UMNO Youth wing has described news portal The Malaysian Insider (TMI) portal as increasingly rude after the allegedly news report on the Council of Rulers has rejected the the proposed amendments to a federal law concerning the implementation of hudud.

Umno Youth social media bureau chairman Ibdilillah Ishak said, TMI should be held responsible and receive retribution from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) immediately.

He also said since the Keeper of the Rulers' Seal Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad had also denied issuing any statement on Kelantan's hudud plan, the MCMC should take stern action against TMI to deter other news portals from publishing any provocative statements concerning the Malay rulers.

"We condemn the false statement made by pro-opposition portal TMI who reported that the Malay Rulers reject the proposal to amend to a federal law over the implementation of hudud.

"The TMI report is a form of malicious slander by the pro-DAP and PKR portal aimed at jeopardising the glory institutions of the Malay sultanate.

"These false statements were also denied by the Keeper of the Rulers Seal during the day," he said in a memorandum sent to MCMC here today.

The memorandum was received by MCMC Strategic Communications senior director, Sheikh Raffie Abd Rahman.

Ibdilillah said TMI is known for disseminating false news that are fraudulent.

"In this issue, who is the 'source' being referred by TMR? Or do they only want to cause a negative perception of the Malay Rulers?

"TMI often apologized after reporting news which is not true. Do they practice damage control all this while?" he said.

Obviously, the incident prove that TMI is full false information

"We urge the Commission to take action as heavy as possible against TMI immediately.

"We support the freedom of the media, but there should be a reminder that the freedom has its limitation and must be held accountable,” he said.
