Robin van Persie being shoved out of Old Trafford?

Manchester United's Dutch striker is set to head for the sunshine of the Turkish Super Lig, according to Thursday's papers.

Robin van Persie 'being sold in secret' - will Besiktas get him?
The Daily Mirror reports that Robin van Persie is being "touted without his knowledge" to clubs across Europe. The claim is made by Pierre van Hooijdonk, a former Feyenoord and Holland team-mate of the United striker, who says that Fenerbahce were offered him in January. "United had sent people to test the water for a move," said Van Hoojidonk.

"Van Persie is in a difficult situation. To the outside world he says he is happy to stay and I can understand this. But Robin has the feeling that United want to get rid of him... Of course the money is good, life is good in Istanbul, but it is not a big football league in Europe we are talking about.

" Van Hoojidonk also added that the negotations going on behind the player's make make it hard for RVP: "The pressure is put on," he added. "You are almost forced to go to the club where your employer has struck a deal."

Meanwhile in The Sun the claim is that Robin van Persie is being tempted to a different club in Turkey, according to The Sun, with Besiktas the likely destination. “If the conditions are right, and if he wants to come, we are willing to make an offer even if it would push us to the limit financially," Besiktas' director said. The Sun believe that Besiktas are ready to pay a huge sum of money for the striker, and Van Persie would be open to a deal with just one year left on his deal - and no talks set for a new one.

Paper Round's view - We find it hard to believe that Van Persie could have been that surprised about - it's clear they are ready to rebuild their front line and while they could find a use for Van Persie, it's not like they need him. Meanwhile, he won't be happy playing sparingly with Euro 2016 looming, so he might well be happy to jump with one year left on his contract. The 31-year-old surely wants to cash in on one last big payday and Besiktas could offer it.
