Teenager found dead with legs and hands tied to a chair

MELAKA: A teenager who had earlier been reported missing, has been found dead with his legs and hands tied to a chair and his mouth gagged with a rope.

The victim, Gunaseelan a/l D. Murgan, was found on the first floor of an abandoned shop lot at Taman Merdeka Jaya, Melaka at 6.30pm on Tuesday.

According to Melaka Crime Investigation Department chief, Raja Sharom Abdullah Said, the victim had died within the past 24 hours, based on the victim’s condition.

“We are investigating why he was found in this manner and the cause of his death,” said Raja Sharom.

Preliminary investigation found no traces of struggle or stab wounds on the victim’s body. The police will however, investigate the cause of death under Section 302 for murder.

The mother of the victim had lodged a missing person’s report on Sunday before his body was discovered on Monday evening.

The victim’s body will be sent to the Melaka General Hospital for post-mortem. -- ASTRO Awani
