Maria Sharapova saw off Coco Vandeweghe in three sets on Centre Court to reach the semi-finals.
The unseeded American made it tough work for the Russian in her 13th Wimbledon.
Vanderweghe was on the brink of defeat, but held her nerve, and her serve, before going on to break Sharapova and win the tie-break to level the match.
But the 28-year-old Russian showed her class to win 6-3 6-7 6-3 and will now face either No 1 seed Serena Williams or Victoria Azarenka in the last four.
