Following Pakatan Rakyat's 'demise', Khairy calls for Selangor to be dissolved

Khairy Jamaluddin today said the Selangor state government should be dissolved following the 'demise' of the Pakatan Rakyat.

KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin today said the Selangor state government should be dissolved following the 'demise' of the Pakatan Rakyat.

"It is politically no longer tenable," he tweeted, replying to a question posed by an online news portal on Twitter on the future of the states governed by the PR coalition.

DAP in a media statement today said it accepted PAS Muktamar's decision to sever ties with the party and added that its central executive committee (CEC) had unanimously resolved that Pakatan Rakyat ceases to exist.

The PR was formed on 1st April 2008 by the DAP, PAS and PKR following the March 8, 2008 general election.

Lim had also blamed PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang for the paralysis of the PR, in particular the Selangor Menteri Besar crisis and the issue of hudud laws.

PAS’s 61st Muktamar had accepted a motion without debate to sever all ties with DAP following several statements from the party leaders attacking PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang especially on hudud related matters.

However, the motion also wanted PAS to maintain the tahaluf siyasi or political cooperation in the opposition pact with the PKR.

DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang had also earlier warned that PR may cease to exist following the resolution taken by PAS Muktamar to sever ties with DAP.
