IPOH: A man has been remanded for five days, beginning Friday, to facilitate investigations into a machete attack on three members of a family here yesterday.
In the 4.40am incident, the 35-year-old suspect's former girlfriend's right leg was almost severed while she was in the living room of a house in Taman Maju Rapat.
Ipoh police chief, ACP Sum Chang Keong said the suspect was remanded under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt to the 20-year-old victim.
The attack also left the woman's father injured in the back while her 17-year-old brother was slashed on the left hand.
Initial police investigations revealed that five youths had broken down the main door of the house before attacking the victims.
In a follow-up operation, the police detained a man to shed light on the attack.
