Sugar Damaging To Male Sperm & Female Mortality

Sugar Damaging To Male Sperm & Female Mortality

Are you addicted to soda or basically anything sweet? It could be the sugar talking.

Over the years, many researchers have warned us about the damaging effect sugar has on our body and health. There's a reason why we've been repeatedly told to cut down on our sugar intake. If you haven't been paying heed, now is the time to do so.

Not only does consuming large amount of sugar can risk your waistline, it could also potentially harm male sperm and female mortality. The culprit is the sugar you find in all types of carbonated drinks.

This recent study by the University of Utah should serve as a warning to guys who harbour hopes of continuing their lineage.

When mice consumed the equivalent of a normal human diet and 25 per cent extra sugar (that's about three cans of soda daily), they were at 25 per cent less likely to reproduce. This shows that added sugar consumption can have dramatic adverse impacts on mammalian health.

While the mice didn't become obese or show increase in blood pressure, more of them died faster and have fewer babies.

Meanwhile, in the case of female mortality, the study found that after 32 weeks of extra sugar diet, 35 per cent of the female mice died.

These two findings translate to the potential harm on humans as well. Hence, it is vital that we cut sugar out from our diet, most especially refined sugar. Switching to alternatives, like honey, is key to maintain overall health.
