Police seek 'Ah Hai' to facilitate Bukit Bintang hand grenade incident

On Thursday, a car jockey was killed while 12 others injured after a bomb exploded at Bukit Bintang. 

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are looking for'Ah Hai' to facilitate their investigation into the hand grenade explosion in front of a nightclub at the Sun Complex in Bukit Bintang on Thursday.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa told Bernama when contacted, that the man was a crucial witness in the case.

"We believe Ah Hai was the main target; initial investigations found him to be an important witness in the case...police are trying to locate him," he said.

Tajuddin said police had earlier completed a case involving Ah Hai and submitted the investigation paper to the Attorney General's Chambers for further action.

"Ah Hai was allegedly involved in a case in Sentul in August..the charge says that he had aimed a pistol at a policeman," he said.

Of the incident on Thursday in which a car jockey was killed, Tajuddin said eight of the victims had given their statements.

Police have not made any arrests.

Tiong Kwong Yie, 36, succumbed to serious injuries, while 12 others including foreign tourists were hurt in the blast believed to be the work of secret societies engaged in a turf war.
