Sylvester Stallone to direct 'Rambo 5'

Sylvester Stallone will put on camouflage to play "Rambo" once again in a movie he also plans to direct.

After helming the fourth installment in the franchise, the actor will return to the director's chair and to the camouflage headband for "Rambo: Last Blood," ComingSoon reveals.

"First Blood" was the name of the first movie in the franchise, released in 1982. So the title chosen for the next installment could indicate a conclusion to the series.

A total of four films have been made on the adventures of John Rambo, a Vietnam veteran struggling with the return to civilian life. The most recent was "John Rambo" (2008), which had a budget of $50 million and brought in $113 million in theaters.

Stallone also wrote the script for the new movie. While plot details remain unconfirmed, the story is rumored to involve John Rambo taking down a ruthless drug cartel in Mexico. Last June, Stallone described the project as the "Rambo" equivalent of the Coen brothers' "No Country for Old Men," leaving movie fans to puzzle over what this might look like.

After a streak of flops with "Bullet to the Head," "Grudge Match" and more recently "The Expendables 3," the star known for his action movie roles is counting more than ever on the "Rambo" franchise to restore his former glory.
