ISIS is "enemy number one" of Islam

ISIS' ideology has nothing to do with Islam and their proponents.

KUALA LUMPUR: Militants of the Islamic state of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and al-Qaeda were labeled “enemy number one” of Islam by Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz al-Sheikh on Tuesday, reports al-Arabiya news.

"The ideas of extremism, radicalism and terrorism ... have nothing to do with Islam and (their proponents) are the enemy number one of Islam," said the top cleric in a statement.

His statement comes on the back of ISIS militants declaring “caliphate” on parts of Iraq and Syria, and the global al-Qaeda network.

The portal reported that Saudi Arabia has donated $100 million to the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center (UNCCT) in an effort to combat terrorism.

“Terrorism is an evil that must be eradicated from the world through international efforts,” Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel al-Jubeir during a United Nations ceremony, quoted al-Arabiya.

“The UNCCT is the only center in the world that has the legitimacy to combat terrorism,” he added.

Other countries that have donated to UNCCT are United States, Germany, and Britain.

The news portal reported that on Monday, ISIS warned the US via video that if raids were to hit its militants, they will attack Americans “in any place” and said they will “drown all of you in blood”.
