8 freed, 22 remanded following illegal rally in capital

The court had rejected the request for the remand of eight individuals, while 22 have been remanded until tomorrow.

KUALA LUMPUR: 21 of 30 protesters who were detained in an illegal rally organised by several groups in the capital yesterday, have been remanded until tomorrow.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said another suspect was remanded until Tuesday, for illegal possession of fireworks.

In a statement here today, he said the court rejected the request for the remand of eight other individuals.

The illegal rally which was held in front of a shopping complex in the capital city failed to take off as planned as less than 100 participants wearing black, turned up.

On Thursday, the police nabbed two people in connection with a press conference to hold an illegal demonstration.
