Three days and still no information, says family

KUALA LUMPUR: Three days with still no information and the families of flight MH370 passengers continue to wait anxiously for news of their loved ones.

"We haven't been informed of anything because there is no information yet, and we were told that the investigation is still going on," said Selamat Omar, father of passenger Mohd. Khairul Amri, from Bera, Pahang.

According to Selamat, as much as the families are anxious and distraught, they need to be patient and allow time for the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation so any information given out won't be wrong.

When asked about being told by the authorities that they were to bring their passports along, he said that they were told to prepare just in case they had to leave.

"They want us to be prepared just in case they locate the plane outside the country, so we can go," said Selamat.

He added that Mohd Khairul had boarded the flight to Beijing on Saturday for a business trip.

The families of the passengers of flight MH370 has been staying at the Hotel Everly Putrajaya since Saturday night while constantly being briefed by the authorities of any updates about their loved ones.

MH370, a code share flight with China Southern Airlines, left KLIA for Beijing at 12:41am Saturday morning.

All communication with the plane was lost at 2:40am and no distress signal or call was received.

The flight had registered 239 passengers, 38 of them Malaysian. It was scheduled to arrive at Beijing International Airport at 6:30am local time on Sunday.
