REMBAU: A 10-month-old baby boy, his mother and a Singaporean bus driver were killed in a road accident involving six vehicles on the south-bound side of the North-South Expressway near here today.
The baby died during treatment at the Melaka Hospital while his mother, Rasidah Abdul Latip, 30, and the Singaporean, Ahmad Zaki Kassim, 33, were killed on the spot, at Km244.6 of the highway in the accident which occurred at 4.45 pm.
A police spokesman said a tanker lorry travelling south from Seremban spun out of control and stalled across the highway.
A Perodua Myvi car carrying Rasidah, her husband Khairul Nazri Yusof, 34, who was driving, and their son crashed into the lorry, after which a Toyota Innova taxi also rammed the lorry.
An empty tour bus driven by Ahmad Zaki, a lorry carrying construction material and a motorcycle also rammed into the stalled lorry as they could not stop in time, he said.
Khairul Nazri and a motorcycle pillion-rider were badly injured and were sent to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital in Seremban for treatment, he said.
The spokesman said the people in the other vehicles were not injured.
Negeri Sembilan Traffic Police chief ASP Abd Halil Hamzah confirmed the accident and said they were investigating how it happened. -- BERNAMA
