Nicol on cloud nine after clinching Hong Kong title for ninth time

Nicol claimed the victory in 39 minutes.

Malaysian squash queen Datuk Nicol David was on cloud nine after claiming her ninth successive Hong Kong Open title, on Sunday.

The world number one, who just celebrated her 31st birthday on Aug 26, defeated Egypt's Nour El Tayeb in straight sets 11-4, 12-10, 11-8 in 39 minutes.

Nicol has won the Hong Kong Open since 2006 and in 2005, Nicol claimed her first world title when the event was held in Hong Kong.

In the men's final, Egypt's Mohamed Elshorbagy, fresh from winning his first Malaysian Open title, claimed his second title of the season after defeating France's Gregory Gaultier 11-9, 11-2, 4-11, 8-11, 11-4 after a five-set thriller.
