KUALA LUMPUR: An essay written by a secondary school student addressed to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has gone viral on the social media.
The letter to Najib was meant as an assignment from an English teacher, whose instruction was, ‘write a simple message to the Prime Minister on GST.”
The essay was initially uploaded on the teacher's personal Facebook account.
In the letter, student Norfatihah Rahimee wrote about her background – an orphan from a poor family with many siblings.
Fatihah said her family struggles to make ends meet since the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on April 1.
She also hoped that the government will be able to device a mechanic to reduce the burden of the rakyat.
Touched by Norfatihah's sincerity, her teacher left an empowering 'be strong' message for her at the of the essay.
