MACC detains Felda subsidiary CEO

BAHRI: Two men have been detained, one of them a Felda subsidiary CEO, for suspected funds misappropriation pertaining to the purchase of a hotel in Port Dickson.

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has confirmed that it had detained the CEO of a Felda subsidiary on March 1.

In a statement released today, the MACC director (Special Operations) Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zin said the CEO was still being remanded until tomorrow. He said the MACC also detained a businessman on Feb 26.

"He was remanded until March 5 and the remand was extended for another four days before being released on March 7," he said.

The two men, aged 44, were detained to assist in investigations as they were suspected of having misappropriated the Felda subsidiary's funds concerning the purchase of a hotel in Port Dickson valued at about RM40 million.

He said that statements had been taken from 23 individuals so far to assist in the investigation under Section 16 a (A) of the MACC Act 2009.

"Investigations are ongoing," Bahri added.
