No way! It’s just selfish to shoot from there, isn’t it?

There are few things more frustrating for fans and team-mates than seeing one of your players take on a 'Hollywood' effort from a ridiculous distance out.

Well, that is, if the attempt is not successful.

Carlos Lobaton saw his name up in lights as he picked up the ball fully 15 yards inside his own half in Sporting Cristal's match against Juan Aurich.

What he was attempting from 60 yards out in the Peruvian Primera was truly outrageous, and arguably very selfish.

But he somehow managed to execute a perfect high, dipping strike which sailed into the corner of the net with the goalkeeper left helpless.

It was a staggering strike from so far out, and the power he managed to get on the shot ensured that it was still fizzing as it nestled into the net.

The goalkeeper's futile full-length dive only served to further show how extraordinary the shot was.

That will teach him for straying off his line with Lobaton 60 yards out.

Arguably the best thing about the goal was the incredible reaction from the crazed fans in celebration of the strike as it prompted utter delirium in the stands.
