TEMERLOH: A more than RM3 million golden strike within three minutes!
In what is believed to be Pahang's biggest jewellery heist, six men struck at a goldsmith shop and escaped with RM3.2 million in jewellery in Bandar Mentakab near here today.
The robbers armed with machetes furiously scooped the jewellery into plastic sacks and escaped in two cars.
The incident occurred about 9.30am, when the shop proprietor and several employees were opening the shop for the day.
Temerloh police deputy chief Supt Zundin Mahmood said the robbery was over within three minutes.
He said in the incident, six masked men burst into the shop and ordered the proprietor and staff not to raise an alarm.
"The robbers scooped the jewellery from the glass display cabinets and put them in several plastic sacks before escaping in a Honda Accord and Toyota Camry," he told reporters here.
Zundin said the robbers, believed to be locals, were believed to have escaped in the cars, believed to be stolen, towards the Temerloh toll plaza.
