Part-time lecturer charged with molesting 15-year-old boy

KUALA LUMPUR: A part-time lecturer pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court on Tuesday to molesting a teenager two weeks ago.

Vasuthreva Menon, 42, was charged with committing the offence on a 15-year-old boy on the front seat of a car parked at Jalan Raja Uda, Kampung Baru, between 7.30pm and 10.30pm on May 30.

The charge, under Section 354 of the Penal Code, provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years, a fine, whipping or any two of the punishments upon conviction.

Magistrate Saiful Akmar Said allowed bail of RM5,000 with one surety and set July 11 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Sarihan Abdul Shatar prosecuted while Menon was unrepresented. - Bernama
