SATURDAY

Colombian midfielder Carlos Sanchez is set to make his competitive debut for Aston Villa, with Joe Cole also poised to feature. Alan Pardew could hand first Premier League starts to former Ajax midfielder Siem de Jong and on loan Argentine striker Facundo Ferreyra.

Chelsea fans are ready to welcome back Didier Drogba as the Ivorian striker contemplates a competitive return to Stamford Bridge. Thibaut Courtios is expected to retain his place between the posts ahead of Petr Cech. Leicester manager Nigel Pearson is hoping Jamie Vardy and Marc Albrighton recover sufficiently from injury lay-offs.

Both sides are short of defensive options – Crystal Palace sweating on the fitness of defensive duo Scott Dann and Adrian Mariappa, West Ham without the suspended James Collins and unsure about Joey O'Brien (knee), James Tomkins and Carl Jenkinson (both hamstring).

Shane Long – fresh from his costly miss against Liverpool – is in line to make his full Southampton debut. West Brom summer signings Joleon Lescott and Cristian Gamboa are unlikely to feature.

Swansea are waiting on international clearance for Argentina defender Federico Fernandez following his £8 million switch from Napoli. Sam Vokes (anterior cruciate ligament) is Burnley’s only absentee.

Darron Gibson could return for Everton after 10 months out with anterior cruciate ligament damage. Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta misses out on a return to Goodison Park with an ankle injury, but World Cup-winning trio Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Mesut Ozil could feature.

SUNDAY

Steve Bruce is expected to restore a host of players after making wholesale changes for Hull’s midweek Europa League defeat against Lokeren. On loan forward Victor Moses is in contention for his Stoke debut.

Erik Lamela is expected to start for Spurs after leading a late revival in the midweek Europa League play-off against AEL Limassol. Emmanuel Adebayor, Christian Eriksen, Younes Kaboul, Aaron Lennon and Etienne Capoue will return after being rested. Mauricio Isla and Leroy Fer are in line to make their QPR debuts, but another summer signing Eduardo Vargas still requires a work permit.

Sunderland welcome back defensive pair Billy Jones and Santiago Vergini; Manchester United boss Luis van Gaal has a fully fit Robin van Persie at his disposal, but Marcos Rojo will miss the clash as he’s awaiting a work permit.

MONDAY

Eliaquim Mangala is a doubt for defending champions Manchester City, but Pablo Zabaleta and on loan midfielder Frank Lampard are available. Summer recruits Lazar Markovic and Alberto Moreno are in contention to make their Liverpool debuts at the Etihad.
