PUTRAJAYA:  The Government of Malaysia is deeply saddened and concerned with the latest unrest and bloodshed that has occurred and cost hundreds of lives, injured thousand others and not to mention the destruction of properties.

The Government of Malaysia strongly opposes violence as a means of solving any conflict and hope that all parties will exercise full restraint and return immediately to negotiation for peaceful solution. It is vital that the current political stalemate to be resolved through continuous dialogue and a progressive reconciliation process.

To all Malaysians, the Government of Malaysia strongly advise to defer and reschedule all non-essential travel to Egypt. The Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo has advised Malaysians in Egypt to abide by the security guidelines issued by the Egyptian authorities and the Embassy’s instructions including the curfew as well as to avoid conflict ridden areas.  

For the returning Malaysian students, they are advised to check and confirm with their respective universities whether there would be any changes on the starting date of their academic year before flying back to Egypt. Malaysians who are in Egypt also advised to be in close contact with the Embassy of Malaysia in Cairo. The contact details of the Embassy are as follows;
