Upset at being insulted by his sister when he asked for money, a 30-year-old man in Pasir Panjang, Terengganu, bit her neck in front of guests during her wedding, reported Harian Metro.
The man also threatened the 27-year-old woman with a hoe and a knife.
According to sources, the woman had not entertained her brother's request for RM50 but finally gave in and threw the money on the side of the road during the incident on Friday.
The man then bit her neck before fleeing without taking the money.
The sister later lodged a report at the Kuala Terengganu police station.
The man was detained a few hours after the incident.
