2015 Proton Exora facelift launched – RM66,888 - RM81,888, Super Premium variant introduced

It looks like the Proton Exora facelift has made a relatively quiet introduction with units of the MPV – in Super Premium and Executive trim – already in showrooms. For this round of updates, Proton has introduced a new range-topping variant in the guise of the aforementioned Super Premium, which replaces the Prime variant.

In terms of aesthetics, the Proton Exora facelift gets a raft of upgrades in the form of body cladding on the lower front, side and rear of the car for a more robust outlook. The headlight assembly now sports a bronze tinted outlook, again exclusive to the Super Premium, as opposed to the smoked setup on earlier models. On the Super Premium and Premium variants, the fog lamps are replaced by LED daytime running lights.

Profile wise, the Super Premium variant adds on grey side mirrors while the rest of the range receive body-painted finish. Refreshed ten-spoke 16-inch wheels make an appearance – the Super Premium receiving a two-tone treatment instead of an all-silver affair on the other variants.

At the rear, new smoked combination tail lamps are featured along with the inclusion of a fog lamp – on the Premium and Super Premium – for enhanced visibility. A revised wing design also gets featured this time round. Lift the hood and a new ‘Turbo’ badging sits in place of the pre-facelift’s ‘CFE’ tag on the engine cover.

Inside, the range-topping Super Premium gets a faux carbon trim on the centre console. The instrument cluster is now of the Optitron variety while the leather-trimmed seats feature a new design. Additionally, a reverse camera is now standard across all variants. Opting for the Premium and Super Premium variant gets you more safety in the form of electronic stability control (ESC) and four airbags.

A total of seven colours are now available with Luxury Blue and Indiana Grey accompanying the facelifted variants – the other options comprise of Solid White, Elegant Brown, Cocoa Grey, Genetic Silver and Tranquility Black. No mechanical changes are touted on the facelift variants with the same two engines on offer – a 1.6 CPS mill and a 1.6 turbo CFE engine, the latter paired to a CVT transmission.

The Proton Exora facelift range receives a price reduction by “as much as 5.8% or RM4,710 in line with the government’s plans to reduce the prices of cars,” as mentioned by Datuk Abdul Harith Abdullah, CEO of Proton. The Exora Standard MT is now priced (with metallic paint) at RM56,888 while the Standard AT goes for RM59,888 (both receive a price reduction of RM3,100), on-the-road with insurance.

Prices for the Exora Executive CVT now stands at RM66,888 (a drop of RM3,100) while the Premium is priced at RM75,888 (a drop of RM4,710). The range-topping Super Premium is priced at RM81,888 (a drop of RM4,100). All Exora variants get a three-year/100,000 km (whichever comes first) warranty.
