KUALA LUMPUR: The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has lodged a police report following photographs of unauthorised flying vehicles or unmanned aerial vehicles in the vicinity of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) had been uploaded on social media sites, recently.

Its director-general Datuk Azharuddin Abdul Rahman today when contacted by Astro AWANI confirmed that a police had been made by the DCA.

“Yes, there was a police report lodged this morning urging the police to investigate this matter and also to ensure that it does not happen again," he said.

Meanwhile, pilot Wan Arief Wan Imran had earlier went to the DCA office in Putrajaya to lodge a report on the matter.

"I met with the DCA's Director of Security Division who confirmed that the DCA is aware of this and lodged a police report and it is now being investigated.

"They also informed the Malaysia Airports Berhad (MAB) and the control tower about the matter,” he said, adding that he will leave the matter in the hands of the police and authorised personnel.

According to Wan Arief, the drone known as 'DJI Phantom 2' drone believed used by the operator has a “fly-away” issue – which the operator goes beyond the control of the latter.

"What if at that moment, the drone decided to fly itself towards the plane?"

Wan Arief said, UAV drones should be operated responsibly and flying it near buildings or airports should be prohibited.

DCA in a statement said the department is concerned with the recent development of drone operations for recreational or commercial purposes.

"These drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) have encroached into airports which may disrupt and jeopardise flight operations.

"Any intentions to fly drones or UAV in Malaysian airspace requisites approval from the DCA," said the statement. It also stressed that flying any UAV drones in the vicinity of airports is strictly prohibited and constitutes as an offence under the Civil Aviation Act 1969.

Purported aerial drone photographs of aircraft approaching the KLIA had since gone viral, raising fear among Netizens that it could lead to another aviation disaster.

The photos were allegedly posted some three months ago by a user under the handle ‘yengnasir’.

The user, however, defended his action despite people questioning the repercussion of his action.

Ambil gambar guna drone bahayakan kapal terbang?

'Saya dibelasah anak-anak 30 kali sehari'

Pauline Bubb, Spencer, 11, Sapphire, 9, dan Jorja, 9.

SOUTHAMPTON - ENGLAND.

"Paling teruk, Sapphire serang saya sebanyak 30 kali sehari. Kaki saya lebam-lebam," kata Bubb.

"Anak-anak bersikap sedemikian kerana ibu bapa mereka sendiri," tambahnya.

New make-up and more safety for Volvo S60 - starts at RM221,888

The new and revamped Volvo S60 now available in Malaysia. — Picture courtesy of VolvoKUALA

LUMPUR, March 3 — The Volvo S60, like all cars going through mid-life crisis, (pun intended) now has a revamped front mask featuring a more dynamic-looking façade. In order to make it more appealing to would-be buyers, Volvo has dialled in improved overall levels of safety, and the new model is now officially available in Malaysia.

The engines and drive trains from the outgoing model are carried over, which implies that the same reliability and the same power output as its predecessors, and the same two 1.6 litre and 2.0 litre variants, the T4 and T5 respectively.

This familiar pair of four-cylinder gasoline turbo direct injection (GTDi) engines, a legacy of the kinship between Volvo and Ford before the new Chinese owners took over the reins of Volvo continue their service in unchanged states, with the T4’s 1.6-litre power plant generating 180hp and 240Nm while the T5’s 2.0-litre mill offers 240hp and 320Nm torque on tap.

Both engines are offered with Volvo’s 6-speed PowerShift dual clutch transmission.

The S60 comes with a dynamic chassis. During the development process, the chassis team carved out a holistic solution featuring changes and refinements for virtually every single detail that influences a car's driving properties.
These include improved steering, stiffer springs and bushes as well as more damping than in any previous Volvo. The additional damping though, may be a double–edged sword that can both improve the car’s appeal to buyers or cut them off altogether, depending on how they treasure driving dynamics over comfort and vice versa.

In truth, I have not driven the car but from lessons learnt from other car makers who have decided to venture into the path of ‘performance’ driving characteristics, one is advised to go for that most important test drive before making a decision.

Generally, the younger set prefer better handling whilst the more mature ones would rather have ride comfort, so the key is what the target demographics are for the S60

Externally, the new front design gives rise to a more expressive face and emboldens the S60 with a greater road presence. The front grille has been widened and in it, the signature Volvo iron-mark badge is made bigger for an even more confident appearance. A choice of five exterior colours is offered and buyers have the option of further sprucing up the S60’s aesthetics by ordering the optional R-Design Styling Package.

Inside, in an obvious effort to please, the S60’s familiar cabin is enhanced by the new TFT Digital Instrument Cluster with 8-inch Adaptive Digital Display with three selectable themes — Elegance, Eco, and Performance. Alongside it, the Volvo Sensus infotainment system benefits from an upgraded Bluetooth connectivity package that now enables music streaming through any Bluetooth-enabled portable devices.

As usual, Volvo pulls no punches in the area of safety; the new S60 is not only comprehensively equipped but also incorporates a few major improvements from the pre-facelift model. Some features are exclusive on the costlier T5 model, but both variants do get Cornering Lights, an enhanced Blind Spot Information System which alerts the driver of fast-approaching vehicles from as far as 70 metres away, and Cross Traffic Alert to monitor approaching traffic when reversing out of parking spaces.

Autonomous emergency braking is also standard fit in the S60. The upgraded City Safety system automatically brakes if the driver fails to react in time when the vehicle in front slows down or stops — or if the car is approaching a stationary vehicle too fast.

In the T5 model, auto braking capability is complemented with Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake, Adaptive Cruise Control with queue assist, together with Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection technology.

Completing the comprehensive safety package, albeit for the T5 only, are Driver Alert Control to detect and alert fatigued drivers, Active High Beam Control, and Road Sign Information, which reproduces road signs sighted along the road on the instrument panel in case the driver misses out on a crucial warning sign. This last feature also ties in with Speed Alert that provides a visual warning on the speedometer if the speed limit is exceeded.

Both variants of the S60 come with Volvo’s extended coverage plan which includes a five-year warranty, five years of free service including parts per scheduled maintenance, and five years of free roadside assist (Volvo-on-Call).

Pricing starts at RM221,888 (on-the-road without insurance) for the T4 followed by the T5 at RM268,888.

Mereka merupakan 2.62 peratus pelajar yang mendapat gred A+, A dan A-.

Seramai 455,839 pelajar menduduki peperiksaan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) tahun lalu.

Girlfriend who witnessed Nemtsov murder reaches Kiev

Ganna Duritska, who was walking with Nemtsov when he died, arrived safely at Kiev airport.

MOSCOW: The chief witness in the murder of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov -- a Ukrainian model who was his girlfriend -- arrived in Kiev late Monday, as authorities vowed to solve the most shocking political assassination to take place during Vladimir Putin's rule.

Ganna Duritska, who was walking with Nemtsov when he died, arrived safely at Kiev airport, her lawyer Vadim Prokhorov -- who was accompanying her -- told reporters, adding that she needed to rest.

Duritska earlier said investigators were preventing her from leaving Moscow.

The funeral for Nemtsov, a 55-year-old former deputy prime minister, longtime Putin critic and anti-corruption crusader, was to be held Tuesday in the Russian capital's Troekurovskoye cemetery.

His body was to lie in state starting at 0700 GMT at the Andrei Sakharov rights centre, the RIA-Novosti news agency quoted Nemtsov colleague Konstantin Merzlikin as saying.

Nemtsov was shot dead shortly before midnight Friday while walking across a bridge just a short distance from the Kremlin together with 23-year-old Duritska.

Putin, whose rule has seen the steady suppression of independent media, non-Kremlin controlled political parties and opposition-minded business figures, called the murder a "contract killing" and said it was a provocation. Soon after the killing, Putin promised an all-out effort to catch the perpetrators.

On Monday, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov pledged that the "heinous crime" would be "fully investigated".

A reward of three million rubles ($48,000) was offered for information on Nemtsov's death, a substantial amount in Moscow, where the average monthly salary is 60,000 rubles ($960).

Duritska 'prevented from leaving Russia'

Duritska said earlier Monday she had given all the information she could to investigators but that they were preventing her from leaving Russia, citing concerns for her security.

"For three days they have escorted me in police cars to the Investigative Committee," Duritska told the independent Dozhd television channel, referring to the agency in charge of the probe.

"They don't explain when I will be let go or for what reason I am kept here."

Ganna's mother Inna Duritska, who lives in Kiev, told AFP she feared that her daughter's de facto house arrest meant investigators might be preparing to make her a pawn in the deepening Russia-Ukraine crisis.

After she was allowed to leave Russia, Yevhen Perebyinis, a Ukraine foreign ministry spokesman, wrote on his Twitter feed that "Ukrainian diplomats in Moscow provided all the necessary assistance for her return home".

Moscow and Kiev have been foes since the ouster last year of Kremlin-backed president Viktor Yanukovych and Russia's seizure of the Ukrainian Crimea province. Ukraine's current pro-Western government has also been battling a pro-Russian insurgency in the east since April.

Nemtsov was said by friends to have been working on a report containing what he said was proof of secret Russian military involvement in the bloody uprising by pro-Moscow militias in eastern Ukraine.

He had also spoken of his fear of being killed in Russia, where a string of other prominent opposition figures have been murdered since Putin came to power 15 years ago.

But there was no imminent sign of danger on Friday when he was fatally shot in the back, Duritska -- who was uninjured in the apparently well-prepared shooting -- said earlier.

Speaking via a fuzzy Skype connection from a Moscow apartment, Duritska said she did not see where the assassin came from. But she did notice a light-coloured car quickly drive off, she said.

She said she was immediately taken in for questioning which lasted through the night.

'A sacrifice'

Shocked opposition figures in Russia and Western leaders called for a full and transparent probe into the murder of Nemtsov, who served as Boris Yeltsin's first deputy prime minister in the 1990s.

On Sunday, tens of thousands of people joined a memorial march in Moscow, numbers not seen at an opposition-linked event since mass anti-Putin rallies in 2011 and 2012.

The powerful Investigative Committee leading the probe has offered several possible motives, including that the country's opposition could itself have ordered the hit on Nemtsov as "a sacrifice".

The murder took place in one of the most heavily policed areas of Moscow. However, some Russian media reports suggested that low-level criminals, not professional hit men, may have carried out the killing.

"Participants in the investigation are only sure of one thing -- that the killers were not professionals," said Kommersant.

The broadsheet said they used ammunition that was years old and possibly an unreliable home-made weapon.

The murderer -- or murderers -- fired four bullets into Nemtsov's back and several more were found at the scene.

The weapon may have been a Makarov pistol, used by Russian armed forces, or an easily-acquired Izh gas pistol, converted to fire live rounds, the newspaper said.

A converted weapon of this type was used in 2006 to kill journalist and Kremlin critic Anna Politkovskaya at her home in central Moscow. That murder remains unsolved.

Should Adnan Januzaj be starting ahead of Angel di Maria?

Manchester United's game against Sunderland at the weekend was one of great significance. Having seen their unbeaten run cut short in shocking fashion against Swansea, the game against Gus Poyet's men was one that United simply had to win to keep pace in the race for the top four.

The game against the Black Cats was one where the likes of Wayne Rooney and British transfer record signing Angel Di Maria had to deliver.

The £59.7 million Argentina international struggled to make a lasting contribution to the game, though, and was withdrawn at half-time for Adnan Januzaj, as Van Gaal looked for more potency in attack.

The 27-year-old midfielder's performance in the first half was a shadow of the one that he displayed when he first arrived at Old Trafford from Real Madrid.

Di Maria managed to complete 68% of his passes while creating just two chances against Poyet's side - which was below-par - considering he fared slightly better in the loss to Swansea, where he carved out five opportunities for his team-mates.

The Argentine midfielder was also unable to burst through with his searing pace and was left powerless when he attempted to cut in to the left from the right-hand side - failing both of his take ons against Jordi Gomez and Patrick van Aanholt.

It was no surprise that he was withdrawn at half-time, as Van Gaal brought on Januzaj - one of United's stand-out performers from last season - to provide a much needed attacking boost for the remainder of the game.

Despite having not been selected in United's last game against the Swans, Januzaj showed signs of brilliance down the right during the Sunderland game, as his heat map depicts.

The 20-year-old Belgium international had a pass success rate of 88% and was always looking to create an opening – and created three chances.

The winger looked to make inroads where Di Maria had failed to do so, by getting the better of Sunderland left-back Van Aanholt, with his take ons, which have seen him become United's sixth most effective player this season.

Januzaj successfully beat the Dutchman once from three attempts, as the Red Devils looked to double their lead, following Wayne Rooney's 66th minute opener from the penalty spot.

The Belgian showed that last season's heroics were no fluke, as his influence in the game was one that saw United keep their hopes of a top-four place alive.

Januzaj will be hoping that his involvement from the bench can see him given more game-time.

The Red Devils face an away trip to Newcastle United on Wednesday, and having responded to the defeat to Swansea, Januzaj and his team-mates will want to keep that consistency going, if they are to cement their place in the upper echelons of the Premier League till the end of the season.
