Safee, beware!

Hamidin said Safee is a professional player and that he should be fully aware of his role in shouldering national duty that entails discipline and good conduct in public.

KUALA LUMPUR: Beware, Safee! That was the stern warning from Football Association Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin on the disciplinary action imposed on Harimau Malaya striker, Safee Sali if the 'smoking incident' is repeated.

Safee would have to face heavier penalty if he fails to oblige and fulfill his promise after admitting his mistake to the extent of provoking local Press members to crank up pressure on him on the eve of AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 last Saturday.

The match between Malaysia’s Tigers and Singapore’s Lions took place at the Republic’s National Stadium in Kallang.

Hamidin said Safee is a professional player and he should be fully aware of his role in shouldering national duty that entails strict discipline and good conduct in public.

Hamidin said that Safee should view the incident as a moral lesson for him and his counterparts.

National coach Dollah Salleh echoed Hamidin's sentiment, citing that Safee in an act to redeem himself had valiantly fired his team into a 61st lead during the match, and almost swiftly paved a clear passage for the national team to book a spot in the semi-finals.
