Hull City versus Manchester United preview: A must-win game for the Tigers

Hull City manager Steve Bruce is desperate for a favour in the fight for Premier League survival but friend and West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce may not be the man to offer it in the final round of matches on Sunday.

Hull are 18th with 34 points and not only have to beat Manchester United, having lost all their seven games against them in the Premier League, but must also hope 17th-placed Newcastle United fail to defeat West Ham.

Newcastle, who have 36 points, have picked up just one point from 10 matches but welcome a West Ham side to St James' Park that have been given most of the week off training by boss Allardyce.

TEAM NEWS

- Hull City
Hull boss Steve Bruce hopes to name an unchanged side for the Tigers' unlikely Barclays Premier League survival mission against Manchester United on Sunday. Nikica Jelavic is expected to lead the forward line once again as Bruce seeks the win his side require to give themselves any hope of staying up. Jake Livermore remains suspended by the club following a positive drugs test while Mohamed Diame (knee) and Gaston Ramirez (hamstring) are both still out.

- Manchester United
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will see how David de Gea trains on Saturday before deciding whether he is fit enough to play in the final match of the season at Hull. De Gea, who suffered a hamstring injury against Arsenal last week, trained on Friday and the goalkeeper has a chance of featuring against Steve Bruce's side at the KC Stadium on Sunday. Captain Wayne Rooney has overcome a leg injury, but his deputy Michael Carrick (calf) and defender Luke Shaw (concussion) are out, while right-back Rafael (rib) is unlikely to feature.
