Nicol books quarter final slot at Windy City Open

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's squash queen Datuk Nicol David is on track for her maiden Windy City Open title after advancing to the quarter finals in Chicago, United States, on Sunday.

According to www.squashsite.co.uk, the world number one, only took 27 minutes to dispose off Egypt's qualifier Heba El Torky in 11-5, 11-4 and 11-7.

The 31-year-old Penangite who won the Cleveland Classic in the US earlier this month, will be meeting England's Alison Waters in the quarter-finals.

Waters defeated English qualifier Victoria Lust 13-11, 11-5 and 11-4.

Malaysia's number two player, Low Wee Wern passed a daunting physical challenge from 15-year-old Egyptian Habiba Mohamed to notch a 11-8, 9-11, 12-10, 11-6 first round win on Friday.

The world number eight will be facing Australia's Rachel Grinham who has shown that she is still a very dangerous 38-year-old opponent after beating Hong Kong's Joey Chan 11-6, 2-11, 15-13, 11-6.

Their second round matches will be held later at 2pm local time.

Unfortunately, national number three, Delia Arnold bowed out of the tournament after being beaten by world number three Laura Massaro of England in 50 minutes.

Massaro denied Delia with a 7-11, 11-5, 11-6 and 13-11 win.
