KUALA LUMPUR: A human skeleton believed to be that of a man was found in a plastic barrel on the edge of a pond in Kampung Timah, Bukit Beruntung here today.
Hulu Selangor police chief, Supt R. Supramaniam, said they received a call from the public about 12.15 noon on the find by the pond near Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Bukit Beruntung.
"The informers who were at the scene pointed out to the police the location where the skeletal remains, believed to have been cemented in a blue barrel, was found.
"The distance to the scene from the main road is approximately 4.4 km," he said in a statement here tonight.
Subsequently, the Kuala Kubu Bharu Fire Brigade team rushed to the scene with seven personnel and a fire-engine after receiving a call at 3.15 pm, said Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations, Mohd Sani Harul.
"Firefighters helped to cut the barrel around 4.35 pm, the plastic barrel was cut into half after the cement was broken, the skull was found cemented at the bottom of the barrel while the body protruded upwards," he said.
Supramaniam said the skeleton was sent to Hospital Sungai Buloh for post-mortem.
