MUAR: Four friends were killed when the car they were travelling in, collided head-on with a frozen-food laden lorry at the 12km stretch of Jalan Muar-Air Hitam here today.
Tan Wei Oon, 18; Loh Yi Wei, 19; Tin Seing Kit, 19, and Lee Ping Meng, 22, died on the spot in the 1.40pm crash. The victims are from Batu Pahat, Johor.
Their bodies were sent to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital.
The lorry driver, identified only as Lee, 62, who was also injured, was sent to the hospital where his condition was described as stable.
Muar police chief, ACP Azman Ayob said the four were heading here from Batu Pahat while the lorry was coming from the opposite direction.
Tin's mother, identified as Lim, said she only knew that her son had come here for a job.
Lim, in her 40s, was speaking to reporters at the hospital mortuary.
Meanwhile, Tan's girlfriend, who declined to be identified, said she was planning to meet her boyfriend tonight, in conjunction with Valentine's Day.
She said she found out about the accident via Facebook and headed straight to the hospital.
