Robin van Persie will quit Old Trafford in the summer - and Louis van Gaal already has his replacement picked out, according to Tuesday's papers.
Man United to dump RVP, sign Cavani: Louis van Gaal has decided that he does not want Robin van Persie back next season, according to the Daily Star. Moreover, the Star believes that he is ready to make a run at Edinson Cavani to replace the Dutchman.
Van Persie has struggled for fitness and there will be only one year left on his contract this summer. The Red Devils don't want to let him go for free the following year, so they want to sell him now, even at a cut-rate price. That will help fund a £150 million spending spree, with Cavani at the heart of it.
Paper Round's view: It looks like Van Persie's time at Old Trafford is over. He hasn't committed to signing a new deal, even if Man United wanted him, and Van Gaal wants to make changes. Where he goes is unclear, but it'll be surprising if he's back with Manchester United next season.
As for Cavani, there are a lot of rumblings that he'll be leaving PSG - and while the price would be high or a 28-year-old, the Red Devils have plenty of money and he meets Van Gaal's desire for proven international talent.
