Australian woman sues AirAsia after flight attendant falls on her

KUALA LUMPUR: An Australian nurse is suing AirAsia after an air stewardess fell on her and injured her foot during a flight.

According to a report in Herald Sun, Erin Crocker, was on her flight back from Thailand on April 4, after a vacation, when the plane that she was flying in went through severe turbulence.

The turbulence was so bad that she fell onto the plane’s floor, after which a flight attendant fell on her, injuring her right foot.

Due to that, Crocker reportedly suffered multiple joint fractures and a ligament tear as well as deep vein thrombosis below her right knee.

Her lawyer, Nancy Yonan, said AirAsia had offered a settlement for damages sought for for pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses and loss of income.

However, Crocker had decided to reject it.

“It is unfortunate that we had to commence legal proceedings in the Supreme Court, but AirAsia made an offer of settlement which represents only a minute fraction of the claim’s true value," Yonan was quoted in report.

Yonan also said that Crocker initially had decided against suuing AirAsia after the QZ8501 crash but later changed her mind.

Astro AWANI learnt that AirAsia will issue a statement on the matter soon.
