Man bashed to death at DUKE highway: Four detained

Police have detained four men, aged between 22 and 37, for alleged involvement in an assault of a man at the exit road of the Duta-Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) in Sentul Thursday night.

KL Criminal Investigation Department deputy head (Intelligence/Operation), ACP Khairi Ahrasa, said the suspects were detained at 10am Friday when they came to the Sentul police station to give their statements on the incident.

He said in the 7.50pm incident, the 32-year-old victim was surrounded and attacked by about 15 men who then dispersed when police arrived at the scene.

The victim was taken to the police station, but was found unconscious on arrival, he said, adding that a medical team was called and the medical officer pronounced the man dead.

The body was then sent to the KL Hospital for a post-mortem.

Initial investigation by the police revealed the incident was triggered following the theft of a Honda Civic car at the parking area of Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong, last Wednesday, Khairi said in a statement.

He said friends of the owner of the Honda Civic, who were on motorcycles, spotted the car which was caught in a traffic jam on the DUKE Expressway heading towards Jalan Duta and approached the car.

There were two men in the car, but one of them managed to escape, he added.

He urged witnesses or those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer ASP Wan Abdullah Wan Said at 03-62562280 or 03-62562307.
