Two suspects involved in snatch theft involving an Air Asia X executive detained

Two suspects believed to be involved in a snatch theft involving an executive from AirAsia X, at the Palm Villa Condominium, Jalan Cempaka, last Thursday, were detained by police in separate incidents.

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Amiruddin Jamaluddin said one of the suspect, aged 22, was detained at Taman Muhibbah on the next day while the second suspect, aged 25, was detained at the Taman Cempaka traffic lights in Ampang.

"From initial investigations, the first suspect, an unemployed, admitted to being involved in the snatch theft while the second suspect, a bus driver, was riding the motorcycle.

Both also tested positive for drugs, he told Bernama, here, Tuesday.

Amirudin said the first suspect would be remanded until Sept 5 while the second suspect would be remanded until Sept 10, to facilitate investigations.

It was reported that the victim, Sharinawati Abu Bakar, 30, who had just returned from work was robbed by the suspects while a man who was driving past the place of the incident in a car, decided to reverse his car in an attempt to hit the snatch thieves.

But unfortunately, the car also hit the victim who later died.
