Cancer diagnosed boy dies after wish to ride in Ferrari came true

Eleven-year-old Muhammad Sirajuddin Mohd Zaini, who was diagnosed with cancer last year, has died 11 days after his wish to ride in a Ferrari came true.

He suffered breathing problems and was admitted to the University of Malaya Medical Centre on Wednesday.

Known as Siraj among his family members and friends, he had been diagnosed with bone cancer.

His mother Norhayati Jantan, who is Bernama training manager, said Siraj died at 4.45am yesterday.

Siraj, she said, had a fall while playing football last year.

“After the incident, he suffered from an ailment which forced his left foot to be amputated in May.

“Despite the loss of a leg, Siraj did not despair and tried to continue with life like other children,” she said.

Norhayati said Siraj, the third child among six siblings, was laid to rest at the Kampung Puah Muslim Cemetery in Gombak yesterday.

Siraj had previously expressed his desire through the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia to ride in a Ferrari.

On Aug 4, the founder of Kumpulan Empire, Datuk Sean Y.T Ng, took Siraj for a ride in the car.

His father, Western Digital senior manager Mohd Zaini Zakaria, said the family was sad over his death but they were glad that Siraj’s final wish had been fulfilled.
