Malindo Air prohibits hoverboards, personal movement devices

In a statement today, Malindo Air said the move to ban these devices, which are categorised as dangerous goods, complies with the directive of the DCAM and as recommended by the IATA.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malindo Air today officially announced the prohibition of all personal movement devices such as hoverboards, mini wheels, electric scooters, electric segways and electric bicycles.

In a statement today, Malindo Air said the move to ban these devices, which are categorised as dangerous goods, complies with the directive of the Department of Civil Aviation of Malaysia (DCAM) and as recommended by the International Air Transportation Association (IATA).

It said rechargeable battery packs and electronic devices such as laptops and digital cameras for personal use or related to medical electronic devices with lithium batteries of less than 100 watt-hour rating or with a lithium content of less than two-grammes are allowed in carry-on baggage only.
