Ford described that the new 2015 Ford Everest is technologically advanced, stunningly capable and refined. Just how capable and refine or advanced is it?
- It comes in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive variants.
- Designed to be balanced for both rugged off-road and refined on-road capability.
- The entire structure of the Everest was built with the durability to take on the most inhospitable environments. The body on frame design assures the torsional strength required for challenging trains.
- Equipped with an active transfer case with Torque on Demand, Terrain Management System and best in class ground clearance of 225mm and water-wading capability of 800mm.
- Terrain Management System gives drivers four preset settings – Normal, Snow/Gravel/Grass, Sand and Rock – that alter the vehicle’s throttle response, transmission, intelligent four-wheel drive system and traction control to tackle any situation.
- Drivers can also manually lock the transfer case in low-range four-wheel drive mode for increased control for extreme off-road environments.
- Pair all that with the coil spring front and rear suspension and a Watt’s linkage on the rear axle, the Everest provides a comfortable, stable ride with agile and predictable handling on the road.
- The Everest is also one of the most technologically advanced off-road SUVs ever with the presence of SYNC 2 that also boasts an 8-in touchscreen.
- Not only is the passenger cage built using high strength materials like boron steel, the Everest also comes with all the safety ABC soup that you get in normal cars like Curve Control, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Alert with Collision Mitigation, Roll Stability Control and an Electronic Stability Program. There is also Active Park Assist to help reduce parking anxiety.
- The Everest comes with three power plant choices: for heavy duty towing, a 3.2-litre Duratorq five-cylinder TDCi diesel engine is available; for maximum fuel economy, a 2.2-litre Duratorq four-cylinder TDCi diesel; Ford will also debut a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin-scroll EcoBoost petrol engine.
