New Selangor MB to be sworn in on Tuesday

A new Menteri Besar will be sworn in on Tuesday, sources with the Selangor Palace said today.

The new MB will be sworn in at 10am in Istana Alam Shah, to replace outgoing Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

Invitation cards to the swearing-in ceremony have been sent out to state leaders, state assemblymen and VIPs.

However, the identity of the new MB is kept secret and will only be known on Tuesday.

The country's richest state was caught in a political turmoil over the Selangor MB issue which was triggered after the engineered 'Kajang Move' to remove Abdul Khalid from his position.

He was subsequently sacked from his party, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) on Aug 9. Click here to read the chronology of the MB crisis.

The Pakatan Rakyat pact became divided over the issue with PAS initially throwing its support behind Abdul Khalid and wanted him to continue until his term expires.

They then agreed to replace him but were again at odds on who should be the next MB.
