KUALA LUMPUR: Today marks a historic day as the longest bridge in South East Asia, the Second Penang Bridge will be launched.
The bridge to the Pearl of the Orient be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak Sunday at 8pm and scheduled to be opened to the public from 12.01am.
The 24km dual-carriage toll bridge which took 6 years to build, will connect Batu Kawan on the mainland and Batu Maung on the island. It is expected to reduce 25 per cent of the traffic on the Penang Bridge on a daily basis and help ease congestion.
