Police display logos of 49 secret societies

KUALA LUMPUR:  Police Friday revealed the logos of 49 secret societies that have been outlawed.

Federal police (Bukit Aman) Secret Societies, Gambling and Vice Division principal assistant director Datuk Abdul Jalil Hassan said the logos had been uploaded on the Police's Facebook page so that the people understood the meaning of the logos and refrain from getting involved in any secret societies.

"For a start, we advise people owning and sticking such logos on cars and houses to remove them.

"This is to avoid getting arrested by police. Maybe they do no know the meaning of the logos and are not involved in any secret societies. However, if they insist on having the logos or are identified as being involved in such activities, stern action will be taken," he told a media conference here.

Also revealed at the media conference were the descriptions in tattoo form on the body and background information on triads.

Among the secret societies mentioned, the most active was 04 Gang in Kedah, Penang, Johor and Kuala Lumpur while 08 Gang was active in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Perak, Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka while the Double 7 triad was active throughout the Peninsula.

He said police would also monitor the usage of the logos on vehicles at funeral processions or during burials.
