Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson
LOS ANGELES - Smell what’s cooking in 2020? Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has said he’s considering running for president one day.
The actor, who has previously hinted at a future in politics, was asked if he might be a future candidate for the White House after former reality star Donald Trump’s surprise victory in the presidential election on Tuesday, November 8.
“I wouldn’t rule it out,” the former pro wrestler told Vanity Fair while promoting his new animated movie Moana in Los Angeles on Sunday.
“It would be a great opportunity to help people, so it’s possible. This past election shows that anything can happen,” he added.
Johnson, who has been busy filming the Jumanji remake in Hawaii, previously addressed speculation he’s considering a career change into politics.
“I can’t deny that the thought of being governor, the thought of being president, is alluring. And beyond that, it would be an opportunity to make a real impact on people’s lives on a global scale,” the 44 year old said.
If he threw his hat into the ring, the former WWE superstar would be following in the footsteps of other Hollywood and wrestling stars who have successfully run for public office namely Terminator actor Arnold Schwarzenegger who served as California’s Republican governor.
