16-year old girl burned to death by lynch mob

KUALA LUMPUR: A 16-year-old girl was beaten and burned to death in Guatemala by a lynch mob after she was alleged to be part of a gang that murdered a taxi driver.

The Daily Mail reported, she was one of three suspects who robbed and killed a 68-year-old motorcycle taxi driver, Carlos Enrique González Noreiga, in Rio Bravo, Guatemala.

Following the incident, she along with two other men tried to escape, but the girl who took a wrong route and headed straight into dozens of angry villagers in Rio Bravo.

Infuriated by her actions, the villages bashed the teenager vigorously.

The incident was captured on video and was posted on YouTube. The four-minute-38-second clip received hundreds of thousands of views before it was removed.

Quoting Fairfax Media, the Sydney Morning Herald described the video as the girl crouching on the ground with severe injuries on her face at the start of the video.

The girl stood up in a dazed manner before being grabbed by a woman and then attacked by the mob.

She was then pushed to the ground and was set on fire. As she writhes in pain, a man walked over and poured petrol over her, fanning the flames. The video recorded her death.

Police reportedly said they tried to intervene during the incident but the huge mob blocked them from reaching her.

The case is currently being investigated.

Meanwhile, social media users expressed their views on the inhumane actions of the mob.
