Hanks will play Greg, the youngest of three brothers, who is completely overwhelmed with his new role as a father.
"Life in Pieces," a family comedy in development at CBS for the 2015-2016 season, will star the "Fargo" actor as a man whose life is upended by the birth of his first child.
Along the lines of ABC's "Modern Family," "Life in Pieces" will tell the story of one American family through the eyes of each of its members. Colin Hanks will play Greg, the youngest of three brothers, who is completely overwhelmed with his new role as a father.
Tom Hanks's son is the first actor attached to the project. The actor's TV credits include roles on "Band of Brothers," "Mad Men," "Dexter" and more recently "Fargo," for which he earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.
Hanks is currently shooting "Elvis & Nixon," a feature on the encounter between the rock 'n' roll icon and the American president at the White House in 1970.
