You’re looking at the most affordable offering from the revived Jeep Malaysia – the Jeep Compass compact crossover SUV launches in the country in a sole Limited trim variant.
Looking perhaps the most ‘urban’ of them all, the facelifted Compass MK is powered by a 2.4 litre DOHC dual-VVT four-cylinder engine that produces 170 hp at 6,000 rpm and 220 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm, with a six-speed auto doing transmission duties. Freedom Drive active full-time 4WD with selectable Lock is available as standard.
Equipment courtesy of the top Limited trim includes 18-inch aluminium wheels covered in 215/55 rubber, leather upholstery, a six-way power adjustable driver’s seat with manual lumbar adjustment, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and cruise control switches. The 60:40-split rear seats are reclinable.
Auto single-zone air-con and a sunroof are also available; so is a 6.5-inch Uconnect touch-screen with voice command, Bluetooth, DVD and MP3. Sound comes in through nine Boston Acoustic speakers, including subwoofer and two flip-down liftgate speakers.
Suspension comprises MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link setup out back, while steering is of the hydraulic power-assisted type. Six airbags, ESC and Electronic Roll Mitigation are among the safety equipment on board.
Like the others, the Jeep Compass Limited is fully-imported (CBU) from the US, and will set you back RM248,889, OTR without insurance (or RM255,651 with insurance). Offered is a five-year/150,000 km warranty.
