Okinawa | An elderly woman from the southern region of Japan claims that leaking radiation from Fukushima has had dramatic effects on her own body, increasing her clitoris six-fold.
Although the japanese government has promised to check into the situation, the news has created a shockwave of panic throughout local inhabitants of the region.
“The government is lying to us, despite the danger of the situation” admits a local resident who has asked to keep his anonymity, in fear of backlash from local authorities. “They have gagged the press, no one is allowed to say anything about the subject without repercussion” he admits worryingly.
“What man would want of such a woman?” she asks, visibly shaken.
Japan’s House of Representatives passed the controversial State Secrecy Protection Bill on November 26, 2013, which many suspect was passed to keep government control over leaking information about Fukushima. “It can’t be denied that the main purpose of the bill is to muzzle the press, shut up whistleblowers, and ensure that the nuclear disaster at Fukushima ceases to be an embarrassment before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics” explains japan-based investigative journalist Jake Adelstein.
Other local residents fear for their own health. “My daughter is 4 years old and I just don’t want this to happen to her” explains Hiromi Kamira, mother of two. “What man would want of such a woman?” she asks, visibly shaken.
“In Japanese culture it is normal for the man to have bigger genitalia then that of a woman. This is all very upsetting to the local population” admits cultural anthropologist Ken Hamoto of University of Hawaii. “If this phenomenon starts spreading throughout the region, this might have a dramatic impact on Japanese culture as a whole” he concludes.
