Security companies must verify MyKad info with NRD

SERI MANJUNG:  Security guard companies will be compelled to verify information in the MyKad of every security guard employed by them to prevent identity fraud.

National Registration Department (NRD) director-general Datuk Jariah Mohd Said said, it is gathering information of all security guard companies in the country.

"The NRD is also preparing a timetable for this as we expect a big crowd. We welcome security companies to come forward. One security company has come for MyKad verification," she said after launching the new MyKad, here Wednesday.

Initially, the NRD need a list of names of all security guards and their MyKad numbers for scrutiny.

The security companies should also bring the security guards to the NRD for fingerprinting or biometric screening, the most accurate method to verify identity.

Jariah said since Operation ID was launched on Oct 29, the NRD inspected 505 MyKad after raiding 188 premises.

Twenty Filipinos including six women were charged in court Wednesday for using fake MyKad and using other people's MyKad.

They were sentenced to six months jail by the Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court after after pleading guilty to using fake MyKad and other people's MyKad.

The fake MyKad and other people's MyKad used had Sabah addresses.
