KUALA LUMPUR: A car parked by the side of a road at USJ2/3 in Subang Jaya, near the Summit shopping center, was crushed by a crane from the LRT tracks construction site today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of Operations Mohd Sani Harul said, however, no casualties were reported in the incident which involved a Chevrolet car.
"We understand from crane company that the handle of the crane bent before it fell. The car was 90 percent wrecked," he said.
Sani said they received the call at 6:17 pm and a team of six arrived at the scene from the Jalan Penchala station.
Meanwhile, Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) in a statement said a crawler crane belonging to one of the contractors for the LRT Line Extension Project (LEP) on the Kelana Jaya Line collapsed about 5.45 pm today, damaging a car parked along the road.
Its Project Development Division, group director, Zulkifli Mohd Yusoff said, Prasarana has commenced a full investigation into the incident and would provide a report to the Department of Occupational Safety and Health.
"Prasarana has issued an immediate stop work order to the main contractor of the project, TRC. We will work closely with all the relevant authorities to facilitate the investigation. No injury was reported in the incident," he said.
